RAW Judging, Training, Course Plans

Last judging of 2025 – Lovely Lapford (Dec 25)

Will’s final judging appointment of the year was at the first of the Lapford League shows. As always, this lovely local show proved to be a lot of fun, super friendly with some high quality handling skills on display.

As always, Will designed fast, flowing courses that provided some interesting challenges!

First up was G1-3 Jumping:

This was followed by G4-7 jumping which provided lots of crowd noises and ‘ooh-ah’ moments!:

Will’s judging was rounded off with a super fast G1-3 steeplechase:

Thanks to everyone at Lapford Dog Club for their help and kindness and ring support – what a super show!

DATA Winter Challenge Series (Dec 25)

DATA Winter Challenge Series No 2 (Oct 25)

More sessions for Will’s Skills Fridays at Devon Animal Training Academy (DATA). Take a look at the challenges especially those weaves!

DATA Winter Challenge Series No 1 (Oct 25)

A series of 2 hour challenge workshops at Devon Animal Training Academy (DATA) aimed at G5 and above – the idea being to test, learn and improve skills to get ready to move to the top grade next season, or, if already at G7, to provide that challenge prep for Champ level:

Cornwall Agility Club Show (July 2025)

As the weather got warmer, Will had the honour of judging the agility rounds in Ring 1. The classes included all heights running a G6-7 course, all heights running a G4-5 course and a G1-3 course for large dogs – 11 classes and around 200 dogs during the day.

As always, Will took great care in the design and preparation of the courses noting a slight change in course plans for the G6-7 dogs from small dogs to the other heights to allow a safe line into the dog walk for all heights:

As diligent as ever, Will ran the course with Brave (a Grade 5 dog!) the evening before to make sure it would be safe all the way around for all the competitors the next day. Brave loved the step up and performed impeccably!:

A big thank you to Cornwall AC for inviting Will to be the Ring 1 judge, to the fantastic ring party that ensured that all ran smoothly throughout the day and to the handlers and their dogs who showed some great skills and gave some lovely comments about the challenging but super-fun courses.

Kernow Agility Easter Show (April 2025)

Will had the honour of judging in Ring 4 on the final day of this prestigious event. He had 8 jumping classes to oversee, all 4 heights at Grade 4-5 after judging all heights at Grade 6-7:

Kim Lawer was one of the winners of the G4-5 classes:

“Bandit won g4 part of 4-5 jumping! Win no 23 now…😂So bloody chuffed though with Rebel in that one, he ran fab and clear until I did something stupid at the end pulling him the wrong way🙈i think my boys love Will Bacchus ‘s courses as much as i do, as 2nd time now one of them has won on them 😄

The courses were certainly challenging but the consensus was how much fun they were to run. Experienced international handler, and a top judge himself, Mike Bendall showed exactly how to run the G6-7 course:

DATA Training session (April 2025)

More great courses for this session:

DATA Training session (March 2025)

The first of a series of training sessions led by Will at the brilliant Devon Animal Training Academy (DATA). Great feedback on these courses:

KST Christmas Show (Dec 2024)

The last show of the year saw Will setting 3 challenging courses at his most local show. Grade 1-3, Grade 4-6 and a tough G7 course that attracted a whole bunch of spectators that oohed and aahed appropriately.

KST Training – course running (Dec 2024)

To mark the last training of 2024, Will’s trainer, Kathryn Stickney, gave him the chance to design a course and to lead the session. Will obliged with a fun course that went down well with the handlers present:

Loving Lapford (July 2024)

Will’s first ever judging appointment could not have been at a more lovely setting. The Lapford summer show in Devon is one of the team’s favourites. Stunning scenery, really well organised and super friendly.

Will judged 12 classes across the day:

Will had put a lot of thought and effort into making sure the courses were right in terms of grade, flow and most importantly dog safety.

The team were delighted to see and hear so much positive feedback:

Thanks to the ring party, especially my ring manager, Ann Hampshire, who ensured everything ran smoothly and looked after the new judge!

The popular G5-7 course:
